Queensland Health Service Agreements
This signed service agreement contains funding, activity and performance requirements for the Metro North Hospital and Health Service 2019-2022. Watersheds are generally used in service agreements to determine where funded services are provided. Watersheds are also used to map service data in a common way and to better show coverage and dissemination of service delivery in Queensland. This information can be used to identify needs and gaps in service delivery and to inform future investment decisions of the department. The Department of Communities, Vulnerability and Seniors (Department) funds non-governmental organizations to provide a number of front-line services that enable Queensland in need of protection to improve their lives. The Standard Suite of Contracts contains the standard conditions for all social services funded by the Queensland government. Following Queensland`s agreement to participate in the National Health Care Reform in 2011, an Australian health agreement was signed, which introduced the creation of local hospital networks funded directly by the Commonwealth.   In May 2012, Lawrence Springborg proposed legislation to formalize the transformation of health districts created in 2005 as part of the restructuring into independent local hospital and health services (HHS). The bodies are accountable to the Minister of Health and a “system manager”  has been set up to provide supervision and support for each service. These changes take effect on July 1, 2012.
The standard suite of contracts will be used by all Queensland authorities as a basis for the allocation of social, economic and cultural services, for the provision of funding to local organisations and for sponsorship agreements. Health and hospital services are independent legal bodies responsible for providing public health services in their territories. Each HHS is run by a hospital and public health department and led by an executive head of health services.
